A glittery red and black boat raced up to the dock, its passenger shouting to a girl on shore.

“Are you ready to go fishing today, young lady? Day two of fishing boot camp.”

The girl wearing a pink sweatshirt started to climb aboard, but a videographer had to adjust her microphone.

Call of the Wild: Generation Next in Wyoming to Shoot in 2011 - Casting Call Announced!
Monday, 17 January 2011 00:00
NEW OUTDOOR ADVENTURE SERIES SLATED TO FILM IN WYOMING WYOMING'S CALL OF THE WILD TO SHOOT IN 2011 FOR 2012 AIRING ON THE SPORTSMAN CHANNEL! For Immediate Release - Orion Multimedia, the worlds leader in outdoor adventure programming, in partnership with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, announces a new national cable series, Wyoming's Call of the Wild, to begin filming in the state in 2011 for airing on the Sportsman Channel. Wyoming's Call of the Wild will premiere in 2012. As part of the Sportsman Channels complete lineup of cutting-edge outdoor programming, this new show will feature the natural wonders of Wyoming, while introducing Generation Next of young people to life in the outdoors. Through the unique personal insights of the kids chosen to appear in the series, viewers will see how they are motivated, and will be motivated themselves, to become lifelong participants, with family and friends, in the wildto create the next generation of sportsmen. Hosting this groundbreaking series will be nationally known author, lecturer, and teacher, Craig Conrad, famed for his weekly Friday Stories and his inspiring presentation, The Unstoppable You, with which he has been filling his students with enthusiasm for decades. Conrads twenty-six-year, innovative, energetic teaching career has earned him six nominations for the Whos Who Best Teachers in America, the receipt of the Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching from Colorado Governor Roy Romer, and the first-ever Tradition of Excellence Award. As well, Conrad and his teaching methods have been featured on the ABC and NBC evening news programs, and CBS's The Early Show. Most important, though, are all the students he has inspired to go from listening to his stories to living them. But Wyoming's Call of the Wild couldnt happen without the participation of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Founded over a century ago to enforce hunting and fishing laws, the departments mission has expanded to one of protecting and preserving the spectrum of Wyoming's wildlife resources. The departments staff of 400 dedicated professionals is responsible for more than 800 species of fish and wildlife in the state, only 100 of which are game species that are pursued by hunters and anglers. The rest are held in trust for all the public. To showcase all the attractions that our beautiful state of Wyoming has to offer on the Sportsman Channel is a fantastic opportunity, says Eric Keszler of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Hunting and fishing participation is declining all across the country, and we dont want to see that happen in Wyoming. Hunters and anglers are our most ardent conservationists and contribute more to conservation and wildlife management than any other sector of our society. Our main goal is to awaken these kids and the audience to the need to explore the magic that awaits outdoors. The state of Wyoming has drawn a clear connection between growing stakeholder involvement with its fishing and hunting opportunities and its ability to manage outdoor resources into the future, says Orion Multimedia President, Chris Dorsey. Other states that hope to secure the future of their fish and wildlife management programs would do well to follow Wyomings lead. Wyoming's Call of the Wild will present Wyomings pioneering new model of active participation in the outdoors, to increase interest in hunting and fishing adventures. This revolutionary initiative by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department will be a model of expansion for other states to emulate, creating a new generation of outdoorsmen to promote a healthy and thriving foundation for wildlife.
